Style Guide
Getting ready for your shoot can be a lot , but it doesn't have to be! In this guide, you'll find helpful tips to make your shoot go smoothly and have you looking like a professional model!
Your outfits are one of the most important parts of your senior session! The right clothing can complement your skin tone, bring out your personality, and make your photos truly pop. These are pictures you'll cherish for years, so choosing outfits that feel authentically you makes all the difference!
One of my favorite recommendations when planning your senior photoshoot is to pick out a couple of outfits and let your parent pick out one. Sometimes Mom or Dad can see something you can't, and it makes the shoot extra special!
Don't forget to add your personal style to any outfit. That could mean accessories, props, or pops of color. This session is all about highlighting you, and your wardrobe has the potential to make you feel absolutely amazing!
Bonus Tips For Best Dressed
Fit & Comfort
- Make sure everything fits well and is comfortable — if you're tugging at it at home, you'll be tugging at it on camera!
- Try your outfits on before the session and move around in them — sit, walk, and twirl!
Color & Pattern
- Solid colors and simple patterns tend to photograph better than busy prints or large logos
- Jewel tones, earth tones, and pastels all tend to look gorgeous on camera
- Avoid neon colors as they can cast unusual tones on your skin in photos
Planning Ahead
- Steam or iron your outfits the night before — wrinkles are very noticeable in photos!
- Bring a few extra outfit options just in case something doesn't feel right on the day
- Plan your outfits around your location — flowy dresses work beautifully outdoors, for example
The Little Details
- Fresh manicure? Yes please! Hands show up in photos more than you'd think
- Make sure your shoes are part of the outfit — they matter more than you'd expect
- Bring a small touch-up kit with blotting papers, lip gloss, and a brush for between outfit changes
