If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times: I love the fair. Or, to be more precise, I love taking pictures at the fair! The energy, lights, colors, music, and smells create a fun environment that adds texture and personality to every image. I love walking around and finding small pockets of color and fun.
We’ve tried many poses over the years, and my favorites are the ones with movement that matches the energy of the fair. My favorite from this session is the image above. I asked the girls to stand very still in front of the carousel while I zoomed the lens in and out, which created an amazing blur effect all around them. I also love the shots of the girls leaping and jumping. The bubbles turned out to be a fun surprise, too. I ended up buying them because they looked so pretty in the sunset!
Speaking of sunsets, the one at the Coweta County Fair in September is gorgeous. It sets behind the bright lights and creates a glow that is unmatched. Heavy backlighting can make it hard to light your subject, but I didn’t even have to pull out my flash this time. The reflection off the concrete and all the surrounding lights gave the girls plenty of light. I tried flash on a few shots, but it didn’t make much of a difference.
All in all, I’d say the model team of 2027 is doing an amazing job! Three of the girls were able to make it, and they did great!!
